This the a big weekend in Douglas County. August 7-13 golfers from all over the world convene at the Castle Pines Golf Club for a PGA Tour event. Retief Goosen will be back to defend his title along with Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Earnie Els and many other notables.
Next year the International dates will be moved up to July in an effort to attract more players to this wonderful Colorado golf course. The July weather is not as turbulant as in August when daily electrical storms stop play. Also a certain Tiger person might appear since the new dates are better for scheduling.
In any event golf fans love attending The International at Castle Pines.
Currently the Parade of Homes in going on thru Labor Day. If you enjoy looking at homes, particularly large, expensive new homes, make the trip out to Commerce City.
Yes, I said Commerce City! Located adjacent to the Buffalo Ridge Golf Club, the homesites have amazing views of the front range.
There are only 6 homes to look at, but each one is worthy of a good look. Plan a couple hours at least. There a refreshment stand serving food and drinks, so you can see a few homes, take a break and start all over again.
My hands down favorite home is called "La Grande Cannoli". Of course I know I have good taste because this home also won "Best of Show" for the 2006 Parade of Homes. Built by Brookline Homes this spectacular 8,755 sq. foot home is described as an Old World Tuscan Style farmhouse.
If you have the opportunity to squeeze in a few hours at the Parade of Homes before it's over, do go. You will enjoy it.
Tips from the "other side"...
When I take buyers out to look at homes, we play a game. After looking at a couple homes, I have them choose one. Each time we look at a home, they tell me which one is #1. Seldom do we use the street address for an identifier. What we end up calling each home as we go, usually has something to do with the home itself.
For instance a yellow house will become just that "the yellow one." Sometimes a home stands out for a negative reason. The smelly one or the cluttered one, the cat house or worst yet the really dirty one.
IF you are a seller, the moniker you want to have should not be a negative one. Go for something more pleasantly memorable, if you want to end up sold.
Realty Times an on-line newsletter described the Denver, Colorado real estate market as fueling for a rebound.
Yes, foreclosures are up, but so are the average prices. Unemployment is among the lowest in the nation.
